Josef Schmitt Werkzeug (formerly Adler Werkzeug) is a fourth-generation family business. It was founded in 1919 by Josef Schmitt as a small village smithy.

Today, Tobias Schmitt, Josef's great-grandson, runs the company in its fourth generation. Over the course of more than 100 years, the small forge has developed into an international specialist for forged forestry tools and garden tools.

In addition to the internationally renowned brands ADLER and Herko Werk, the portfolio also includes other own brands.
