The History of NN Knives

Our company's story began in 1957 when István Nagy started learning the craft of grinding. He obtained his professional certification in 1960, followed by a master craftsman certificate in 1964.

In 1971, István Nagy opened his knife and grinding workshop in Budapest. Initially operating in a modest 40-square-meter space, the primary focus was on producing medical instruments and scissors. At that time, only a few grinders worked in the entire country. Due to high demand, up to 2,000 (!!) manicure scissors were handcrafted and forged each month!

Given the political climate of the time, businesses operated under strict regulations. Our knives and scissors bore a small fish logo as a trademark. Customers recognized our products as "fish knive ...
