Legends are not born; they are shaped by time until their moment to shape time has come. They don't live a myth, they create it and leave behind a venerable legacy. In 1966, the foundation stone for another icon was laid in Detroit, Michigan. In the epicentre of the US automotive industry, numerous vehicles see the light of day.

Many of them are ordinary cars, while others are exclusively chosen. The Chevrolet Camaro was originally designed as a so-called Pony Car, which was intended to appeal primarily to younger buyer groups. Compact, sporty and affordable - the coupé was the stalwart for the semi-strong. Success was not long in coming. From 1966 to 1969, approximately 700,000 Camaro models with 12 different engine variants rolled off the production line. In 1969, the last Camaro of the first generation, the Z28, was introduced. Connoisseurs consider this model to be one of the best of all series. A massive V8 small block engine with 216 kW (290 hp) and a Special Performance Package propelled the Camaro Z28 into the select league of muscle cars, sporty stripes on the body included. The motorsport DNA of the now coveted collector's item cannot be denied either.

The engine used is a toned-down version of the successful and highly decorated Penske Camaro from the SCAA Trans AM racing series. Boker quotes the design of the Camaro Z28 and revives the legend. The result is more than just a knife. An attitude to life, the dignified road trip with the bubbling sound of the V8 engine on the seemingly endless highway, gentle rays of sunlight streaking across the canyon and warming the soul. In collaboration with the Italian designer Tommaso Rumici, a unique "muscle knife" was created that combines the distinctive character traits of the Camaro Z28 in form and strength.

The elegant Damascus drop-point blade, hand-forged by Chad Nichols with 80 layers in the “Tread” pattern, reminisces of the sloping cowl induction bonnet of the muscle car. For this purpose, parts of the upper A-arm from the Camaro were used for the blade, that opens smoothly with the blue anodised thumb stud, while the biting stainless steel linerlock reliably locks the knife in place. The aluminium handle in "Le Mans Blue" interprets the lines of the body in a nostalgic way and comes up with exciting details.

The notchback, the small rear spoiler and the gill-like air intakes on the rear wings have been beautifully integrated into the knife. The blade axle screw is lovingly inspired by the rims often used on muscle cars, whereas the straight-lined stainless steel clip, milled from the solid, is reminiscent of the chrome-plated door handles. First and foremost, a rescue tool must meet one central requirement: in an emergency and stressful situation, it must be quick, easy and reliable to use. The technically best solution to meet this requirement is a construction with an automatic thrust blade (OTF, short for Out-of-The-Front) with a robustly constructed and carefully crafted mechanism.

This poses a legal challenge for manufacturers in Germany, because according to the German Weapons Act, OTF knives are initially prohibited (WaffG §1 Paragraph 4 in conjunction with Annex 1 Section 1 Subsection 2.1.1). For the rescue tool Boker Plus Kalashnikov Rescue OTF, however, there is now a notice of assessment from the Federal Criminal Police Office, which negates the weapon and prohibition properties of this tool due to the shape of the blade. (File number SO13-5164.01-Z-543) Possession and even carrying of this tool in public (in Germany) is permitted spring out or slide back completely into the handle.

The absolutely reliable and proven mechanism with a powerful spring was adopted from the OTFs of the Kalashnikov switchblade series, which Boker has been selling abroad for many years, e.g. in France or the USA.

Timeless engineering combined with experienced history! Inspired by a true classic of the air, Boker Plus presents the P-51 Damast by Steve Kelly as a designer knife with exceptional character. Based on the North American P-51 Mustang, the knife reflects the material, shape and colour of the fighter plane from the 1940s and thus almost creates a replica of its historical model.

Between 1940 and 1948, around 15,800 examples of the low-wing aircraft were produced in various versions, making it still one of the most frequently built military aircraft in the world today. The P-51 D is the most common series, with just under 8,000 pieces. The special features of the P-51 Mustang, whose "P" in the name stands for Pursuit, lie in its aerodynamic full-metal construction with the characteristic countersunk studs, which in combination with the massive Packard Merlin V-1650 engine enabled a top speed of 700 km/h with an extraordinary range of up to 3,300 km.

These achievements were considered as groundbreaking at the time, which eventually brought the United States Army Air Forces air supremacy during the Second World War. The single-engine propeller plane was armed with six 0.50 Browning MG53-2 machine guns in the wings and a choice of ten 12.7 cm missiles or bombs weighing up to 900 kg. It was not least the unmistakable lines of the Mustang P-51 that prompted Boker's development department to undertake this exciting project.

The challenge was to transfer the design language and performance of the fighter plane to a knife without compromising on elegance and practicality. The heart of the Boker Plus P-51 Damast is its distinctive spearpoint blade made of 80-layer Damascus, which was forged by Chad Nichols and consists of original parts from the historic fighter plane. When viewed from the side, the blade has a number of visual reminiscences of the historic fighter-bomber. The thumb hole, for example, is reminiscent of the Plexiglas canopy on the cockpit, which allowed the pilot an ideal all-round view. Another highlight is the titanium handle, which replicates the studded light metal plates of the aircraft in great detail.

The blue blade axle screw, which bears the Silver Star of the US Army, and the red anodised screws, which are based on the colour scheme of the tail rudder, are striking. Extreme reliability is promised by the titanium framelock with a stainless-steel inlay, which holds the blade securely in place even during difficult work. Despite the clear lines, the handle lies comfortably in the hand thanks to ergonomic cutouts. The titanium clip is machined from solid and allows for tip-up (r) carry, while the lanyard hole offers further attachment options. A must for all knife collectors and friends of historic aircraft. The Boker Plus Strike is a robust automatic knife for everyday or tactical use which rounds out our wide selection of switchblades. The slim, ergonomically formed handle is based on solid steel liners, which are equipped with lightweight coyote aluminum scales that are milled for a good grip. The comparatively soft and tough metal is also very strong and durable. Deep jimpings in the well-defined thumb rise aid safe handling.
