Essential firearms components as per German Weapons Legislation
Since the introduction of a uniform Weapons Law in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1968, the definitions of essential components of firearms have not changed even following amendments to the law. Because within Europe and/or the European Union, the essential components of firearms had been viewed differently from a legal perspective and further necessities arose (ratification of the UN Firearms Protocol by the EU etc.), the essential components of firearms were defined in addition in the EU Firearms Directive of 17 May 2017 (EU 2017/853). The presentation explains the implementation of the definitions in the German Weapons Legislation and the associated changes for all stakeholders (retailers/dealers, official bodies, sports shooters, hunters etc.).
