Spyderco’s Lil’ Temperance Lightweight is a powerhouse folding knife that represents the latest chapter in a 20-year evolutionary process. Originally conceived by company co-founder Sal Glesser as a personal-defense tool, it has evolved to become an exceptionally stout, full-service folding knife capable of tackling the toughest cutting chores. To elevate the performance of this design even further, Spyderco has supercharged it with a blade crafted from Böhler-Uddeholm K390 MICROCLEAN® tool steel. A state-of-the-art particle metallurgy tool steel, K390 is specially formulated to withstand the rigors of the most demanding industrial applications. When these qualities are translated to knife blades, the result is an exceptional blend of sharpness, edge retention, and toughness. The blade of the Lil’ Temperance Lightweight K390 is full-flat ground from thick 4mm (0.157-inch) stock and features an extremely keen PlainEdge™ cutting edge. It is paired with a handle built with skeletonized stainless steel liners that form the foundation of the knife’s high-strength Compression Lock® mechanism. The liners are nested within injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales that feature a Bi-Directional Texture™ pattern for a secure, non-slip grip. Molded in the signature blue color of Spyderco’s elite family of K390 knives, the scales complement the knife’s open-backed construction to reduce its weight and ensure a lively balance in the hand. To keep the knife poised for instant access, the handle features a broad-based four-position clip that is easily configurable for left or right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry.
