The Prechtl M98 Standard is manufactured according to the original measurements of the zivil Mauser 98.

All calibers which are larger than .30-06 are equipped with a larger civil Mauser magazine housing (originally manufactured by Mauser for 9,3x62 caliber, lengthened by us for 1,5 millimeters). The larger magazine housing can by extended with a Rigby II floor plate in order to allow an extra cartridge to be loaded into the magazine.

ABOUT US

On 7 June 1986 a master gunsmith business named “Jagd-und Sportwaffen Gottfried Prechtl“ was founded in Weinheim, Nördliche Hauptstrasse. It was a one-man business with an associated shop for weapons and hunting accessories. The finest hunting weapons were made to order in the workshop, in particular side by side Hahn shotguns with a combined finish. The one man business was enlarged and, due to the small series production, there was a lack of space in the workshop. It was necessary to move to an industrial estate in 1995. The restarted production of 98 systems and weapons made an expansion necessary.
In 2005 the business moved into a newly built hall in Birkenau in Hesse. There is now enough space to produce hunting systems and sporting weapons.

PHILOSOPHY

There is nothing that cannot be made even cheaper, but there is also nothing that cannot be made even better. The wheel does not have to be reinvented, the wheel already exists.

That is our philosophy:
The 98 system exists and has been proven millions of times. However, it has often been copied and manufactured even more cheaply. But always with the loss of safety patents or with a loss of quality. The real original in an improved form was our aim for all our articles, whether it concerns the System 98 or the Bisley adjustable butt or other articles from our range. We think we have succeeded. Continual development and adapting to modern requirements must not be neglected here. The results of this are modifications of 98 systems for high performance calibres, as well as the new systems GS-04 and 07 Express, and the System GS011.

All of them are improved, modified basic systems in accordance with the safety guidelines from Paul Mauser

OBJECT OF THE COMPANY

Our main activity is manufacturing quality systems for repeater rifles in standard and magnum versions, sport weapon systems in standard and magnum sizes and both single shot and semi-automatic, as well as hunting, sporting and police weapons from systems produced by us. Compensators for rifles and shotguns, match triggers, weapon parts and rifle maker supplies are also the object of our production.

Repairs of all kinds to hunting weapons and large calibre sporting weapons are carried out reliably in our quality workshop.
