Our Long Range Hybrid Target™ (LRHT™) bullets feature an improved center of gravity and ballistic coefficient by utilizing our newest advancement in bullet production processes, our innovative Meplat Reduction Technology™ (MRT™).

Our LRHT line features a total of six different offerings ranging from 22 caliber up to 30 caliber. We designed each offering around a specific long range shooting discipline, such as Fullbore/Palma, F-TR, F-Open, PRS, and NRL. Each of these new bullets started with an optimized hybrid design, which means they are incredibly easy to tune to your rifle and have great BCs. We took those already fantastic designs and merged them with our patented MRT™ system to create a bullet that further improves the BC while actually creating a more consistent and reliable BC than a typical open tip match grade bullet would normally achieve.

Our MRT™ system applies controlled pressure along the projectile nose, producing a homogeneous and repeatable bullet profile and the industry’s most consistent Ballistic Coefficient (BC). While a high BC is desirable to competitive shooters, shot-to-shot BC consistency is critical when engaging targets to 1,000 yards and beyond. Berger’s ballistic coefficients are all Doppler-radar verified with standard deviation unmatched by all other manufacturers.

Berger Production Engineer, Garett Stoddard, spearheaded the MRT™ development project, along with merging its new technology with existing production techniques. Garett stated, “The new MRT™ System takes consistency beyond the envelope. Every bullet nose is formed with optimal swage pressure determined by force instead of length. In addition to reducing a projectile’s drag by shrinking its meplat diameter, this technique takes the inherent meplat inconsistencies that plague OTM style projectiles and brings them closer to the rotational axis. This is a key factor to the consistent balance of the bullet in flight.”

Believing he could make a better rifle bullet, Walt Berger started making his own in 1955 and proved their quality by earning a place in the benchrest shooters hall of fame. After years of crafting bullets by hand in his garage, Walt’s wife, Eunice, encouraged him to expand his fabrication endeavors beyond a part-time hobby. Together, they grew Berger into a large scale precision bullet operation with the highest quality standards in the industry.

David Hamilton, Walt’s grandson and Berger’s Plant Manager, learned from his grandfather that “If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” The Berger team has applied this motto to everything within the company and continues day-to-day to keep the highest quality standards for bullets and ammo in the industry, bringing bench rest levels of precision to all rifle shooting disciplines and applications.
