The 1851 Navy model was probably Col. Samuel Colt’s favourite. He named it Navy Model, meaning its use on the sea thanks to the small .36 cal. It was instead sold in larger quantities to the Army and became inseparable companion of the Yankees during the Civil War. The 1851 Navy Yank model was considered as one of the most brilliant single action revolver thanks to its fast draw out and light recoil. Available in the versions “SHERIFF’S Model” with shortened barrel (the favourite gun of Wild Bill Hickok, the legendary sheriff of Abilene), CIVILIAN Model with silver plated brass backstrap and triggerguard and the LONDON Model with squareback triggerguard, like the ones produced from 1853 to 1856 in the city which they took the name from.

Known and appreciated in the field for the International quality and reliability of its products, F.A.P. F.lli Pietta holds a leading role in the field of replicas manufacturers worldwide. Founded in 1960 by Cav. Giuseppe Pietta, F.A.P. F.lli Pietta started his journey in the world of gun manufacturers with the production of hunting guns in the variation of side-by-side and over & under guns. In 1964 F.A.P. F.lli Pietta started to grow and during the following years he made a reputation and acquired his place in the very difficult market of the historical replicas. As a consequence of the huge demand from the United States, Cav. Giuseppe Pietta turned his production to the weapon replicas of the American Civil War, and, from 1964 the company began building revolver for muzzleloaders.

The first model offered, immediately accepted with great support from the market, especially from the US, was the Colt 1851 Navy, followed by some of its most popular versions. The great immediate success led to an extension of the range with the introduction of other famous models: the 1860 Army, the 1858 New Model Army, the LeMat, which won the prestigious award as “1985's best weapon" by the American National Association of Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers. Each component is manufactured according to production cycles designed to obtain complete interchangeability, also thanks to strict quality controls carried out on all the components. Staff experts and highly specialized personnel run the operations of settings, cleaning, assembly and revision totally handmade. The results of this research of the absolute quality speaks for itself: the confidence and esteem of an international clientele demanding, which is that of marksmen professionals, and a series of astonishing wins with World Record scores (to highlight in particular the exceptional performances of Remington revolver model).

In 2002 F.A.P. F.lli Pietta decided to enrich his already wide range of Old West replicas with the most famous revolver known to date: the 1873 Single Action Pietta Model. A lot of hard work was implied at human level in this gun’s design, introduced to the US market and to the Cowboy Action Shooting shooters that same year in September. During the first SASS® (Single Action Shooting Society®) Convention held in December at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, this gun, designed and wanted by the F.A.P. F.lli Pietta, won within just 3 months production the confidence of his most devoted customers. The reliance in this new product lead to the Award as Best Gun of 2002. Prized for the reliability of the selected materials, the care given to each single part and to its production, this 1873 S.A. revolver Pietta model adds prestige to the current line of guns that F.A.P. F.lli Pietta produce long since. The same Award was granted in 2008 thanks to the special shooting version called “Alchimista Model”.
