The sharpness of japanese knives
Mcusta knives are made in Seki, Japan. They are the result of the synthesis between the traditional japanese handicraft and the cutting edge of technology. Seki has been the producing center of the japanese cutlery since the middle of the 13th century. It is the perfect place in Japan owing to its plentiful resources of iron sand and charcoal, besides the proximity of water and all the elements necessary for the manufacture of thin cutlery.
The methods and skills of old blacksmiths have been handed down for centuries and keep growing with the new technology. Seki remains the dynamic center of japanese cutlery
Knives conception
MCUSTA’s conception teams use CAD-CAM software (Computer Aided Design - Computer Aided Manufacturing) to develop new models and create prototypes. Then every single model is carefully inspected and tested. At this stage, the best material is chosen for the durabilty, the function, and the beauty.
MCUSTA do not use the classic stamping method to produce their knives like most of manufacturers. The components are laser cut, then machined by CNC (Computer Numercial control) in order to ensure the most accurate and suitable cut. This is an important step in the production of a high-quality knife. Afterwards, each knife is assembled and adjusted by hand, finished and inspected by a team of high-qualified craftmen.
MCUSTA’s cutlers belong to the best in Seki and received a specific training course.
