We are Shaggy Breeches, and to those who do not know about us, we are the company behind the winner of IWA 2021 Virtual Studio Edition’s “IWA Newbie” award.
The roots are from our forefathers the Vikings, and we come from a people who were eager to explore and constantly wondered what lay beyond the horizon.
Shaggy Breeches is inspired by the time when we were not guided by electronics, social media, or the like. A time when one could explore and benefit from nature’s healing influence on body and mind.
The name Shaggy Breeches comes from the tale of the famous Ragnar Lothbrok, a Danish Viking King who is now better known than ever, and the most iconic part of his legend is the battle for the Swedish princess Thora, which made him a renowned warrior in the North.
The fight for her love is what has given rise to our new name.
Ragnar must fight the Lindwurm - a giant serpent - to be allowed to marry Princess Thora. For the fight, he puts on some unusual trousers for better mobility and flexibility. He then rolls in tar and sand and finally dips into an icy lake so that his trousers freeze. When he fights the serpent, its venom and fangs cannot penetrate Ragnar's distinctive clothing and he defeats the beast. Because of the unusual yet impenetrable clothing Ragnar wore, his new father-in-law nicknamed him Lothbrok or "Shaggy Breeches" or in common English “unique clothing”.
Our company is not as old as Ragnar Lothbrok but rather young despite based on 40 years of International experience within developing, manufacturing, and selling high-quality Danish designs.
The goal is as our forefathers to “ conquer “ new markets and countries – but not by wars and violence, but via our concept to ensure that “normal” people can have timeless outdoor-, leisure- and hunting clothing’s under the motto “value for money”.
Shaggy Breeches is not developed to fit only slim young ideal bodies but to fit adult average bodies in general. We do not add 20 special pockets into our jackets when most people only use 10 of them, as we do not have membranes with 20.000 MM/ 20.000 MVP but 5.000- 10.000 since it is very seldom “normal” people are in the wood or mountains in extremely heavy rain for 12 hours etc.
We are extremely proud and humbled by the immense amount of support and feedback we have received from our partners and customers which has resulted in the overwhelming growth of our brand.
We are (apart from the current Covid-19 period) physically in the factories every third month to follow things up to make sure that we also constantly try to make ourselves a little “greener” so that it is not only the color that is “green” but also the product itself and what is behind it.
