In September, 1919 the first factories were built under the name The South Bohemian Armory in Strakonice in the south of the Czech Republic. They took over the production of the Fox pistol, in 6.35 Browning, from Pilsen and it later became known as the Z 22. In 1921 The South Bohemian Armory merged with the Hubertus Armory, based in Prague, and in 1922 was re-named The Bohemian Armory. This merger resulted in the new trademark CZ (in a circle).
