In January 1997 five enthusiasts from Kharkov have decided to buy two workshops of Kharkov Metal Factory. During a half year the robbed building was re-equipped, was set production equipment and was received Government License for producing hunting guns.

In the course of the dynamic development years it was mastered own production of the semi-automatic and pump-action shotguns, traumatic revolvers, Flobert guns and airgun rifles. At the moment company structure consists of two outlet store, armourer shop, multimedia shooting gallery and pistol club with the 50 meters shooting gallery. Additionally, it was set the wholesale trade. At this time there are partners almost in every big and small city of Ukraine. There is an active process of new goods developing and manufacturing under own trademarks, which are recognized in the domestic market.

Since 1997 Latek has been producing smooth-bore semi-automatic shotguns “ALTAY” with gas gathering reloading systems with two gauges 12 and 20. Altay shotgun is the leader of consumer demand among the semi-automatic shotguns in the high quality shotguns segment. The reason of such a popularity is the operational and design reliability, perfect fitting, perfect accuracy, strong design, serviceability (easy and fast to dismantle, easy access to all the parts), wide range of the model samples, functional universality of the shotgun.

In 1999 together with Czech firm “Alfa-Proj” was mastered the producing of gas revolver, and it was the base of birth of new model of traumatic revolver “SAFARI” 820G for shooting with 9 mm cartridge with rubber bullet. Steel cylinder, which was designed for two types of cartridge, is the branded product of Latek Ltd. and tailor-made specific characteristic of the model.

Since 2004 was mastered the releasing of new revolver for shutting of Flobert cartridge 4 mm. At the moment model range is presented by three barrel length modifications and different handle grip materials. Revolvers are characterized by comfort shooting with high accuracy and density. Rifled barrel and high muzzle velocity guarantee more high accuracy and efficiency of revolvers in comparison with other products in the same price segment. Our customers mention assembling high quality and product liability. In 2015 was mastered the releasing of 6 mm Flobert revolver carbine, which attracted at once ukrainian and foreign customers attention.

In 2005 was mastered the production of the first traumatic pistol in Ukraine - «SAFARI MINI».

The smallest czech automatic pistol of 9mm caliber became the prototype for new gun of active self protection of non-lethal effect. The size of «SAFARI MINI» is so small, that it fits in an adult’s palm. The weight of the pistol with the loaded magazine is only 390 gr. Small size and weight allow comfort hidden carrying. The main parts of the pistol are made from the steel; frame is made from the hard but light titanium-aluminium alloy of 7075-T6 grade. Magazine capacity is 6 cartridges, there is possibility to use extended 8-charged magazine: metal magazine with plastic extension. 

In 2009 the first spring-powered ukrainian air rifle «CHAIKA» was manufactured, this air rifle gained good reputation on the market and now in a great demand. During next years the model range was extended with the gas spring air rifles.

Over its 20-years history «LATEK» became the biggest non-state gun factory, which is held leading position in the production and adequately competed not only on the ukrainian gun market.
