Cal. .360-2-1/4 Express (.360 Miniature Express), no. 5500. Barrels made of browned rose damast with seven grooves, almost bright bores, length 66 cm (26"). London proof mark. Two-leaf fixed sight, scaled 100 - 150 - 200 yds. Gold-inlaid extension rib signed "ALEX. HENRY. EDINBURGH and LONDON". Double underlug. Double trigger. Barrels on muzzles, barrel roots and bottom of underlugs richly gold-inlaid both ornamentally and florally, which is continued on finest stippled base on tang and opening lever, on receiver, side plates, trigger guard and pistol grip end. Lock plates on both sides signed "Alex. Henry", at the end feline predators inside oval. Bottom side of trigger guard: fleeing deer. Half stock measuring 14-3/8" made of selected walnut  with cheek, pistol grip end with hinged lid for section containing two flints, on bottom of stock vacant golden monogram plate, sling swivels and open-worked steel butt cap with gold inlay. A unique specimen and collector's item in lightly used condition. According to its unusual serial number presumably originally used as display item or demonstration object and characterised as "Toplever snap action bar action locks front bolts two Hammers". In the sales book neither a customer's name nor a date of completion or delivery to a customer is mentioned. In opposition to numbers 5499 and 5501, which were manufactured in 1883. Comes in matching, bumped leather case with brass-enforced corners, dimensions 80 x 24 x 10 cm, inlaid with heavily worn wine red velvet, inside lid green leather label of maker, in thirteen sections extensive, incomplete accessories like loading utensils, tools, tin oil flasks and case keys. No case handle and strapping, replaceable.
