The Catamount or as it is more commonly known, “The Mountain Lion,” is the largest wildcat in North America.   It is known for its explosive power and can cover long distances very quickly leaping as high as 20 feet and as far as 40 feet in a single pounce.

Of any mammal in the Western Hemisphere, The Catamount has the largest range and have been known to hold hunting territory of up to 400 square miles.  The Catamount is a spectacular hunter and will travel long distances in search of prey.  Catamounts are solitary and secretive and they hunt alone during the twilight hours of dawn and dusk as the low light hides them from their prey.  They have highly developed night vision and hearing which play an important roe in their ability to effectively stalk prey, which ends in a powerful pounce that hits hard enough to knock a full grown moose off its feet.

The BCL Catamount is a semi-automatic Defensive Marksman Rifle (DMR) that is based on the attributes of the North American Mountain Lion.  It is offered in 7.62 NATO or 6.5 Creedmoor, which gives it the power to accurately hit targets at distances that a 7.62 x 39 or 5.56 NATO can not reach.  At just under 9 pounds, the Catamount is considered very light for an accurate semi-auto marksman rifle, which allows the operator to travel as efficiently as possible while stalking prey.   Both the 7.62 NATO and 6.5 Creedmoor rounds hit as hard as a mountain lion hits his prey and the 6.5 offers a more accurate, flatter shooting bullet that makes it even more lethal at distance.
