Barnaul Cartridge Plant history begins along with HC “Barnaul Machine-Tool Plant” history.
Historical roots of the company lead to Emperor Alexander II, when in 19th century one of the first cartridge plants was founded in St. Petersburg, and Russian Army was provided with its products during World War I.
Plant worked till Civil War in St.Petersburg. When German army came to St.Petersburg, plant was evacuated in Moscow region, Podolsk.
From the beginning of the Great Patriotic War cartridge production was transferred from Podolsk, Lugansk and Moscow to Barnaul, where the production of military cartridges began.
Birthday of the plant on Altay is considered to be 24th of November 1941, when the first lot of military ammunition was transferred to the front.
During the Great Patriotic War plant produced rifle cartridges 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm and 14.5 mm with armor-piercing bullet and also cartridges for pistol TT.
Plant perfectly kept its leadership in All-Soviet Union socialist competition during the War.
Contribution of the plant in the victory consists in the fact that each second cartridge produced during the War was Altai cartridge. Plant is the only ammunition producer who got the highest award - Order of Lenin. The Red Banner of Central Committee of VKPB and State Defense Committee was given to the plant for everlasting keeping.
Hereafter plant started the production of a wide variety of hunting and sporting cartridges, and its assortment increased from 2 positions in 90 years to 150 positions till this moment.
From 2003 "Barnaul Cartridge Plant" CJSC is the legal person, which is founded on the base of Barnaul Machine-Tool Plant, and plays the leading role among the companies, included in "HC "Barnaul Machine-Tool Plant" JSC.
Nowadays "Barnaul Cartridge Plant" CJSC specializes in sporting&hunting and military ammunition, produces series of target devices and other accompanying products, which are in demand and have competitive price in Russia and on the world market.
