History In the 1980s, Ewald Etgeton developed the idea to measure the position of impact of a shot ( the HIT) by using LED (light emitting diode) light beams. The electronics engineer Paul Meyer then helped Ewald Etgeton to further develop his idea, put it into practice and eventually realise their goal. It didn't take long before the first prototypes were being tested in local shooting clubs.
In May 1991 Meyton Elektronik GmbH was founded in Mettingen and shortly afterwards, the third link in the chain, the information technology specialist Udo Witte joined the company.
This newly founded company started off as simply an interesting and challenging job on the side for all of those involved. However, by the year 2000 this 'hobby' had transformed into full time employment.
The original two founding members then decided to leave the company and Udo Witte took over sole management of Meyton Elektronik GmbH.
In 2002 Meyton moved to larger premises in Melle-Bruchmühlen where the company is presently based.
By the way, the name Meyton is a connection from the lastnames Meyer and EtgeTon
