Koy Clothing is unique fun fashion wear that helps individuals to stand out from the crowd.
Who are We?
A family business run by Alastair and Jimmy, who were brought up in Kenya, in the heart of east Africa as part of a British ex-patriot family, and are currently living in London.
Because of our up-bringing we have a unique knowledge of Kenya and it’s fantastic textiles, while also being connected and informed about the UK’s market, trends and fashions.
What is our Product?
Stand-out, stylish, high quality, unique. This is really encompassed by our slogan – “Don’t be Coy, wear Koy” – we are appealing to outgoing confident people who want to be noticed.
Our garments are made using the unique African fabric called Kikoy, which is 100% cotton, dyed in Kenya with locally produced dyes. The quality, colouring and designs make the products truly unique whilst also complimenting the quintessentially British lifestyle.
You may notice that each of our products is named after a Kenyan tribe by reference to its colouring.
Our aim is to give back to the country we grew up in and love so much.
At first, this involves contributing financially by donating 5% of Maasai (Red striped products) sales and a percentage of all profits to local charities in deprived areas of Kenya.
The long-term goal is to have our own factories in Kenya employing local Kenyan people as we believe this is the best way to support Kenya and its economy.
The current products are eye-catching and bold mens’ jackets and waistcoats which really accentuate what our brand is all about.
The products that we want to launch next are Koy shirts and “Nusu” jackets (“nusu” means half in Swahili). These garments will incorporate Kikoy fabric more subtly, meaning that they will appeal to a wider market - hence the name Nusu. We already have samples of these shirts and jackets; although they are not the final version they give a very good idea of what we envisage.
