The new LEICA MAGNUS riflescopes from Leica Camera AG offer an extremely sharp and extremely bright red dot for all reticules. This is made possible by an innovative anti-reflection system that prevents undesirable glare. The brightness can be adjusted precisely in fine increments by means of a 60-step day/night mode. Particularly long battery life is ensured by smart on/off electronics. The back reflection of light through the front lens is effectively prevented and means that the red dot is invisible to targeted game.
All LEICA MAGNUS models feature excellent transmission characteristics and an extraordinarily high contrast that enables precise shots even under the most adverse lighting conditions.
All control elements are easy to use, even in the dark or when wearing gloves. All models feature a long eye-relief distance of 9 cm that offers additional safety when shooting with large-calibre weapons. Similarly, the exposed surfaces of all lenses are treated with the special AquaDuraTM coating that ensures that dirt and water droplets just roll off.
The riflescopes can be attached to weapons by means of universal, 30-mm scope rings or a mounting rail.
The range currently offers three models in various versions.
1. The LEICA MAGNUS 1–6.3 × 24 is the versatile scope with an extremely wide field of view (43.2 m) and is ideal for driven hunting. It is characterised by an extremely compact construction and is ideal for fast hunts and targeting running game. Its large zoom range enables optimum adjustment of magnification to meet the requirements of each hunting situation.
2. As an all-round scope, the LEICA MAGNUS 1.5–10 × 42 is equally suitable for precise shots at long and short distances. This model is currently the most versatile scope on the market. Its 42-mm front-lens diameter allows precise shots even in unfavourable lighting conditions.
3. At night or when shooting from raised hides, the LEICA MAGNUS 2.4–16 × 56 proves its reliability with extreme viewing brightness and high contrast. Its enormous zoom range extends from 2.4× to a 16× magnification that is ideal for shots at long distances. This riflescope guarantees maximum optical performance for shooting in extreme situations. This includes a maximised light transmission factor of 91 per cent. The MAGNUS 56 model also features parallax correction by means of an additional turret.
The choice of four reticles offered are classical and hunt-proven constructions located in the second focal plane. This means that the reticle is not magnified when changing the zoom factor. This enables more precise shooting as the reticle obscures less of the target at greater magnification.
The 4a reticle is suitable for use with all three MAGNUS riflescopes. The Plex and Ballistic reticles are only available for the 42 and 56 models The L-3D reticle – specially designed for quick shots on running game – is a standard feature of the 24 and 42 models.
All riflescopes of the LEICA MAGNUS line can be ordered ready-fitted with high-precision rapid reticle adjustment (ASV). In combination with a Leica laser rangefinder, this rugged adjustment enables rapid and precise adjustment of the riflescope for different distances. The adjustment increment is equivalent to 1 cm per click at a range of 100 m.
The LEICA MAGNUS premium line is the ideal companion in every hunting situation. With high-quality optics, solid engineering, ruggedness and reliability, they offer the best you can get for successful hunting. Thanks to perfectly matched reticles, they fulfil every expectation and situation from shooting running game to precision shots on targets at extreme distances.
LEICA MAGNUS riflescopes are supplied complete with protective caps for eyepieces and front lenses and a cleaning cloth and will be available from authorised Leica dealers from autumn 2011. Depending on the model, the prices will be between 1,900 and 2,680 euros.
