This is a completely new idea of making a shotgun with many advantages compared to traditional shotguns. My company has patent pending with this invention.
In traditional shoulder-fired firearms, such as shotguns and rifles, the length of pull, i.e. the
distance between the middle of the trigger and the end of the butt, is approximately
between 27 to 40 cm. The proper length of pull depends on the dimensions of the user of
the firearm. This results in a technique of shooting the firearm, for example a shotgun, by
aiming down the barrel of the firearm. When aiming the firearm, the user holds the firearm
against the shoulder and supports the firearm by having one hand, i.e. the hand operating
the trigger, around the grip and by having another hand further holding the stock below the
barrel. The length of pull of the traditional shoulder-fired firearm requires that the arm of
the hand operating the trigger is bent. This is also considered as the proper way of holding
A problem with the traditional shoulder-fired firearms is that it requires a lot of practise in
positioning the firearm correctly for precise aiming down the barrel, especially if quick
response is required. Additionally, when the user has raised the firearm in the aiming
position, the field of view of the user to the surrounding area is partly blocked by the barrel
and by the arm of the hand supporting the firearm below the stock. This may decrease the
performance when hunting, for example.
New idea is providing a firearm having a length of pull long
enough for the user to hold the firearm with only one extended arm so that the user has a
finger on the trigger and the butt of the firearm is supported against the shoulder of the
user An advantage of this kind of firearm is that it allows to aim with the firearm by pointingwith the firearm-holding arm in the direction in which the user desires to shoot. For most people, pointing is a natural way to act and thus, the eye-hand coordination is more
developed than when aiming the traditional firearm.
Another advantage is that in this way a shoulder-fired firearm can be used by only one
hand, thus improving the field of view of the user when aiming.
Third advantade is cutting down the weight of the gun. This is possible because rear stock is so short.
