Cogswell & Harrison, London’s oldest surviving gun maker is made its return to the global forum by exhibiting at the 2016 Shot Show in Las Vegas. Since its origins in May 1770 the company has manufactured an exceptionally diverse range of shotguns and rifles and there are proud Cogswell & Harrison owners around the globe. Most of the record books giving details of the guns produced by Cogswell & Harrison have survived to the present day. By quoting the serial number the archives can usually tell the year the gun was built, to whom it was sold and for how much. The archives show that on June 14th 1933 the Duke of York, whom in 1936 ascended the throne of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions as King George VI, collected his custom built Cogswell & Harrison from their shop at 168 Piccadilly, London.
Post 1989 the company did very little manufacturing and concentrated more on providing a service facility. In 2008 the company was purchased by the Brennan family, the proprietors of Ardee Sports Company, a firearms distribution company. In 2012 Cogswell & Harrison completed their 3rd Millennium bespoke side by side 12g shotgun. This is the first gun manufactured by Cogswell & Harrison in the 21st century and establishes Cogswell & Harrison as a gun manufacturer during 4 centuries. Cogswell & Harrison continues to produce bespoke shotguns at its Hatfield workshop, just 20 miles North from 168 Piccadilly, London.
Recently Cogswell & Harrison have launched a range of modern over and under shotguns, model Windsor and has also launched a modern bolt action version of an original Cogswell & Harrison rifle, model Certus.
In addition to the family of Windsor and Certus guns, Cogswell & Harrison also have other guns in production comprising bespoke side by side and premium over and under shotguns.
The current owners of the company are very proud to be exhibiting on the British pavilion at the 2016 IWA Show, Hall 6 Stand 325.
